Available to mentor
After his postdoctoral fellowship in Dan Lane's lab at Johns Hopkins, Ormond MacDougald joined the U-M faculty as an Assistant Professor of Physiology. He currently is the John A Faulkner Collegiate Chair of Physiology and Professor of Molecular & Integrative Physiology, and Internal Medicine. Dr MacDougald’s professional interests include all aspects of adipose tissue biology. He is also dedicated to training the next generation of scientists.
Dr. MacDougald has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including a Fulbright Scholar's Award. From U-M he is the recipient of the Rackham Distinguished Graduate Mentoring Award and the Basic Science Achievement Award. He also received the Henry Pickering Bowditch Award and the Bodil M. Schmidt-Nielsen Distinguished Mentor and Scientist Award from the APS, and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Outside work he mainly spends time with his wife and four children but he also likes to woodwork, garden, and make music.
