Take the Next Step

The majority of students who enroll at the University of Michigan Medical School apply for financial aid.

Applying

We require only two applications to be considered for all types of institutional and federal aid available through the med school, including scholarships, grants and loans:

FAFSA Notice

The 2024-25 FAFSA is now available to complete, however, the results have not been fully processed or made available to schools. As the Department of Education begins processing FAFSAs they will notify applicants. Once UMMS is able to access FAFSA records, they will be noted as received in your Wolverine Access account.

FAFSA

The 2025-26 FAFSA release date is expected to be delayed, please monitor the Department of Education's website for updates.

U-M Medical School Financial Aid Application

After students are admitted and the FAFSA has been received, this required form will be posted in your student account (Wolverine Access).

Directions for Applying

Current medical students can access information on applying for financial aid on the Medical Student Education SharePoint site

Before You Apply

A quick checklist before you start the two financial aid applications:

  • Be sure that federal income tax forms for the appropriate year (2022 taxes for 2024-2025 FAFSA) have been completed for you (and your spouse, if you are married).
  • Complete the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet before you do your FAFSA.
  • If you can’t provide parent information due to special circumstances, please contact us immediately so we can help you complete the application on time.
  • Sign up for your Federal Student Aid ID. This will allow you to electronically sign your application and make any updates to your application later.
