ERAS® Application must include:

• USMLE Step 1 passing score
• Minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation
• Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
• Medical School transcripts
• Personal Statement

International Medical Graduates

• Valid ECFMG certification is required at the time of application
• We sponsor only J-1 Visas
• A separate letter of recommendation from a faculty physician of international stature with whom you have worked is required. The letter should attest to your clinical performance and character.

Prior to appointment in the program, residents must have successfully completed a broad-based clinical year (PGY-1) in an emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, or transitional year program accredited by the ACGME, or in such a program located in Canada and accredited by the RCPSC or CFPC.

Applications are reviewed by our resident selection committee, comprised of dermatology faculty members. We are committed to a holistic application review process and do not filter applications based on metrics or other specific attributes.

For the 2024 ERAS cycle, our program will be participating in the Supplemental ERAS Application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants will be required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional but encouraged.

This supplemental ERAS application will be combined with the data in the MyERAS application to allow for a holistic review process. Please be honest in your responses, as this will help us to better understand your path to medicine, prior experiences and activities, and what is meaningful to you.

Preference signaling is an option for applicants to signal interest in our program. This year, dermatology offers 3 gold signals and 25 silver signals to each applicant, to be awarded based on level of interest. In contrast to the prior application cycle, signals should be awarded to up to 28 programs of interest, including your home program and/or programs visited through away rotations.

Given the sheer volume of applications received each year and the increase in program signals available for this cycle, we can only guarantee in-depth, holistic review of applications that include a signal to our program. We may or may not have the ability to review non-signal applications.

We are unable to provide application status updates.

We do not consider informal mechanisms of showing interest, including emails from you or an advocate, letters of intent, or thank you notes. Please refrain from this type of communication either pre- or post-interview. We are unable to provide information after the interview about your position on our rank list or likelihood of matching with us.

All interviews will be virtual. We are cognizant of the financial costs of in-person interviews, the impact of travel on our environment, and the potential to lead to inequity and lack of sustainability in the interview process, and have decided to proceed with virtual interviews again this year. Please be assured our virtual interview day will still include direct interactions with our program director, faculty members and current residents, as well as providing a look at our clinics, campus, and city.
