From simple to complex, the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Internal Medicine Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology is a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic conditions. Patients benefit by our multidisciplinary approach to care, specialized clinical programs, exceptional education and training opportunities provided to our faculty and fellows, and cutting-edge research.
Our division is composed of over 40 faculty, fellows, and staff. We have five clinic locations: Allergy Specialty Clinic and Food Allergy Clinic at Domino’s Farms, Allergy at West Ann Arbor Health Center - Parkland Plaza, Allergy at Briarwood Health Associates, Allergy Clinic at Northville Health Center, and Allergy at Brighton Center for Specialty Care.
Our Allergy Specialty Clinic and Food Allergy Clinic at Domino’s Farms is equipped with special food allergy challenge rooms, a sanitized kitchen that has negative pressure flow and sealed doors to prevent the spread of airborne allergies, and a state-of-the-art extract lab.
Also located at Domino’s Farms is our Comprehensive Asthma Management Program. It is a multidisciplinary clinic, consisting of Allergy and Pulmonary asthma specialists and a certified asthma educator, that provides care to patients with difficult-to-control asthma.
We are committed to providing outstanding educational activities and are diligent in our pursuit to equip our faculty and fellows with the most up-to-date information.
Our two-year Allergy and Clinical Immunology Fellowship Training Program is a combination of clinical and research training, providing fellows with advanced training in allergic and immunologic diseases and preparing them to conduct research in the field.
Our faculty have research interests in various and diverse areas including common allergic conditions, asthma, urticaria, autoimmunity and biotechnology, aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease, carmine allergy, atopic dermatitis, chronic sinusitis, and asthma outcomes. Several of our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research at the University of Michigan Mary H. Weiser Food Allergy Center, focusing on understanding food allergies and developing treatment options. We are also a FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) Clinical Network Center of Distinction.
Our primary mission is to reaffirm and perpetuate the principles of integrity, service, and scholarship exemplified by Dr. John M. Sheldon.
